The European Payment Institutions Federation (EPIF), the leading non-banking payment association, has appointed SlimPay’s Head of Innovation Jordan Fresco to participate at a special European Payment Council task force.

Fresco will represent EPIF at the Request-to-Pay Mirroring Task Force, which is responsible for defining the functionalities of a new initiative called Request to Pay. In particular, the task force will examine how the directive can ease payment pains for consumers through account-to-account methods.

“It is a privilege to be part of EPIF. Over the past few years, EPIF has built a powerful forum through its commitment to offer better payment methods and secure the way consumers pay,” Fresco said. “The association has established itself as the go-to payment source in Europe, and I look forward to developing the future of payments with them.”

Fresco will be joining the association alongside EPIF board member Ludovic Vathelot, European solutions manager at SlimPay. A board member since March 2018, Vathelot reviews legislation for potential impact on non-banks and consumers. Together, Fresco and Vathelot represent the interests of payment institutions and have a front-row seat to innovation and regulation matters.

“As payment and technology further converge, it represents an exciting time for our industry,” Vathelot said. “There are many innovative developments happening in the European payment sector, and I am passionate about defining the best payment experience for non-banks and end consumers. I look forward to welcoming Jordan to EPIF and continuing to build the future of payment together.”

EPIF was created in July 2011 to represent the interests of non-banks. The association is a key stakeholder in defining new payment standards across Europe.

As head of innovation at SlimPay, Fresco oversees the development and launch of new products. Prior to joining SlimPay, he served as payment product manager at Ingenico and as a payment consultant for retail banks.

With 20 years of experience in the payment industry, Vathelot joined SlimPay in 2016 as solutions manager. He is an active member of France Payments Forum, which gathers payment experts and EPIF members to foster innovation and security.
